Got a phone call today from someone at Classic Bike magazine about my bike being on show at the MCN London motorcycle show in February alongside the rest of the top 10 bikes. But they want ME to arrange transport of my bike down to London for the Thursday! plus I only get 2 complimentary tickets for the Sunday! I said to the woman on the phone I'd see what I can do but I don't think I'm going to be able to get it there, I'd need to hire a van (not sure I can myself being 21?) plus the costs involved for me are just going to be too much, its a 1,000 mile round trip...

Ridiculous. They must be banking on dotty owners wanting to get their babies on show at any cost.
If they offered to at least cover the transport costs it could be made to happen. But you would be mad to try and get the bike all the way down there.....

Practical Sportbikes came and picked up my CBR600 last year for that magazine shoot.
And Bertie Simmonds from CMM got in his campervan and came to Fungo Towers to photo my Super Dreams with his young daughter.
I think if they want the bikes they have to put in some effort like PS and CMM did.

Yes I agree. If they want the bike then I'm afraid they are going to have to arrange the transportation or help with the costs involved for me to get it all that way. I'm certainly not desperate to get it on show.

good for you scott, its a cheek for them to expect the cost to fall on your shoulders.

That is a bit much to expect, perhaps if you phoned them and explained the distance, expense involved and the difficulties in hiring a van due to your age they may help out. Usually the ones who make the calls are just secretaries or office staff, who neither care or have any interest in bikes. Give them a call and ask to speak to the editor or something Scott. Nothing ventured and all that

No interest whatsoever.......just doing a mediocre job.

Good news they are going to arrange a courier to transport the bike to the show and back! Don't think I'll be going though.
I also have a photographer coming Monday next week for a photo shoot. I'll have to bring the bike back home again this weekend as its currently tucked away in the spare room in my Dads house for winter.
