ok so battery charged and left an hour to settle, 12.76v 10.3a connected a bulb and over a couple of hours i got these readings, 12.66v 10.1a, 12.04v 9.5a, 11.88v 9.0a. if i can get home early enough i will stick it on the bike and see how much charge is going in, if the starter gets hot when cranking and the voltage drop when cranking.

Probably ok for the voltage to drop a little but 9 seems a bit low to me. Another idea that comes to mind is if you can get your hands on one of those lazer thermometers, they look like a toy hand gun. Point it at key areas, the loom, starter, alternator, back of head lamp, ignition, if there is a leak going on somewhere then maybe the thermometer will sense it an indicate it to you. a leak may give off some heat. These lazer thermometers are instant, you don't have to wait for mercury to move slowely, so they can be useful for fault finding some electrical problems.

I have 3 of these Suzuki GS125 in storage in good order as well as another two for parts, bought each one as a bargain for a few hundred seperatly. I passed my A1 on one years ago on second attempt, aside from the SD, they are one of my favourite bikes, I love the gear indicator on them, also they look more like a 250cc and give 100 MPG and I could push start mine very easily. In Dublin I used it during the boom years to travel to work on the grass verge very slowly as the road was too narrow for filtering, the cops used to laugh at me because I used to dress up all in hi-vis from heat to toe with a giant L on my back, this was before it was mandatory for learners to wear an L, and I had a full A1 at that stage anyway. The stopped me once and I acted a bit missing like I was a bit retarded, they assumed I had no licence and told me I would be ok if I stayed on the grass! but that I should switch off the engine and wheel it if I wanted to cross the road!
