The truth is if someone was stood in front of him would he honestly have the brass neck to ask them for £60 for that. I don't think so unfortunately ebay like facebook and some forums seems to give people the freedom to act like complete knobs, purely because they don't have to face the humiliation of people laughing in their face and telling them to f**k right off as they walk away from the twats. Sorry if I seem somewhat irrate but these people seem to think if you are doing up an old classic you'll pay a fortune for any old shit just really annoys me.

People see the Superdreams getting popular as classic bikes and seem to miss the point that they were mass produced commuter bikes, sold in their hundreds of thousands, these sellers then treat the rarer parts, like front muddies as some sort of blue chip investment.I am guessing that most people on this forum will have binned something similar to the one in the listing ,either in the past or recently.YES,with time, patience and serious skill it could be repaired and I'm sure there are folks who would revel in the challenge, but it would take ages and at the end of it all it will still be far less desirable than a NOS item (obviously assuming one was available, yes,I know how hard they are to find)If we were talking about a mudguard for a Bugatti Royale ,for example, then saving the original part would be looked on as imperative even if it was in a similar state to this one and with that car being "worth" £10m + the restoration cost is just accepted as the only way. The best Superdreams seem to command around £3k so paying a panel beater, welder, chrome plater etc etc for the hours and hours of time needed to fix this would probably come in at 20% of the value of the complete bike! Chuck it in the bin ,Muppet!!!!

I binned one in this state around six years ago....
But......can it actually be re-chromed after all the metal filling? Electroplating can be a harsh process. I'm not sure any amount of repairs would render this strong enough for the re-plating - surely a paint job would be the only option?

Just had to rush out to the bin & check mine was still there - that one looks just like it! It is, and I think it might be slightly better!

In my opinion it's beyond repair the only way to fix it would be to cut that section out and weld in a new section and getting the curves right and the ridge down the centre would be nigh on impossible. And then you have to weld in in without it distorting or being visible after grinding down welds. Like FB said the only option would be to fill it and paint it, but then if your not that bothered about originality you would be better getting a plastic one of a later model and paint that. He's just taking the piss its probably a free listing and he just wants to see if anyone is daft enough to put a bid on it.

I think it would be cheaper to spend 120 squid at d silvers! than to try to refurb this, its only a superdream not a vincent or brough mudguard (ffs)!

waste not want not............it is repairable but would cost for a first class repair and replate........have a similar one in the shed but its not its turn yet. Would be dismantled and repaired and painted as our sd's are for basic cheap ( cheap!! prices are rising to beyond our budget ) ride to work ( the lad uses his everyday for the commute to work ) bikes.
one mans meat etc......
ps we would only pay a £10 max for it as we are in poor wales.
