I know this is going to be a stupid question, but how do you tighten those rivet screws ?

Wouldn't mind going Kevin, when is the meet? I'm gonna be dead busy in the next couple of months, loads to do at the new house, depends how things go. Just finished packing the last of my garage stuff (I don't like chucking stuff away, my motto..."it'll come in handy one day"), down to the local for a well earned pint and post your packet while I'm passing. Cheers

Good question mate... I just used a pair of pointy mole grips or pliers to grab the thread end and tightened the nut with an open end spanner.

Just remembered...I didn't use locknuts, it's a thought I'd had but then I realised I'd never get them tightened so I used ordinary 2BA nuts and spring washers.

Hi revver, glad you got the rivets ok, Royal Mail took their time...I posted them a week ago on the 17th 1st class...enjoy doing your refurb, I got a lot of satisfaction restoring an old rusty mudguard to almost new again.

really, that long, royal mail is getting real bad. i dont use them much now, usually courier as rm have brought in new restrictions on fluids and stuff being posted. i know was only going to do a basic refurb, cheap after market but now after joining the forums i have the urge to get it as close to original as poss (except for the casings and rocker i like them shiney)
