I was reading about this last week only drawback I could see was the £35000 price tag .Matchless will be making a comeback soon and built around the same engine (a one litre version ) or so I've read dont know what the price tag will be but the £5200 RE GT Continental looks a lot easier on the pocket

Yep, I read that - I thought my eyes were deceiving me! I'd sooner have the new Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer and £20k change in me back pocket...

Apparently there is a Brough coming on to the market too priced between the Norton and the Hesketh (still too much )

I remember briefly the Hesketh Vampire v1000 , cool name but the bike did,nt live up to it in the press , rich boys toys i reckon , okay i suppose if monies no object and you want to stand out in the crowd , i to would go for the Royal Enfield and keep £30,000 in my pocket ( if only).

I remember seeing the original Hesketh - in metalic red - at the motorcycle show at the NEC...must have been 1981 or 2.
It looked an absolutely stunning machine and, for the day, looked out of this world. Still have a photo I took of it somewhere. Of course against machines of today it would appear agricultural, but back then.........
As for the price of the 24? Ferget it......... Like Damon, I would go for the Norton every time.

saw a heskith in the flesh way back a few months after they came out, a gold one from memory, was parked in the street across the road from work so we all had a good look.......looked lovely, sounded like a right bag of nails......engine problems killed it off......as well as price......
why oh why didn't the government ( lack of government more like, so nought has changed really ) at the time insist that a moded "imp" engine ( they where nationalized at the time, as was nvt? ) be made ( stylised and moded for narrow clutch and m/c type g/b etc etc etc ) for a featherbed frame, shaft drive etc etc etc and teach the japs how its done.........
