Well, I’ve finally got the blister of death in the usual place on the tank, I know this is common, is a solder repair possible or am I just better off looking for a replacement tank and spraying it up?
Thank you

It's possible Andy. My 250NB had been stood for a few years when I got it & the stuff inside smelt like petrol, but looked like brown sludge. The fact it had fluid in it suggests it didn't leak, but once drained it was pretty rusty inside. I filled it with steel hex nuts & spent a few days shaking them around every now & again to break up the rust, then shook out the nuts & the discovered a leak. I soldered up the area around the pin holes. Then I filled it with diluted brick cleaner (hydrochloric acid, I think) to kill the rust. Your supposed to flush the brick cleaner with water, but to minimize flash rusting, I used diesel. That was back in 2012 & the tank was still ok when I sold the bike a couple of weeks ago. I tried the same thing on my 400N tank a couple of years later, but this started leaking again after a few weeks. I repaired that with epoxy & that's been ok ever since. The soldering is worth a try, you've got nothing to loose, but don't spend money getting it painted for a few months to make sure it's ok

Brilliant thread and great job, but that is well above my ability and the tools I have available.
