Drunks tend to go home, not start fires for kicks... It smacks of kids does this...
Bring back the birch etc etc... you can't give anyone a clip round the ear-hole to knock em in line, teachers can't throw board-dusters anymore, and the local "bobby" is now a CPSO in a hi-vis vest who can't legally jump in a pond to save a drowning child.
And that, Sir, is why I would move over to the States at the drop of a hat if I had the opportunity - at least they know the true meaning of freedom...

Summer 1989 - even remember the date it was July 18th, I believe it was a Saturday.
Anyway, I'm just getting off to sleep around midnight then I hear 'scuse me, scuse me your garage is on fire'.
It was the house opposite my parents and some nice fella (on his way home from a night out) had decided to set a little fire in a pile of cardboard in Mr Scissons garage - sometimes he left the garage door fully open, I think out of forgetfulness more than anything.
The worrying thing was that his white Renault 18 nearly exploded into a fireball as a result....but luckily the fire was contained just in time.
