Just got a CB500 2002 , I have been told they are bullet proof . not ridden it yet but giving it the once over , looks good. as yours will be from the same stable ,I'd say " a good choice"

I only rode the test bike for an hour but in that time i found it comfortable and with enough power to take me anywhere, It's not the fastest of bikes but fast enough for some fun without getting into trouble.
Time will tell if it is as reliable as the good old 400T.
As for my old CB400T it won't be going anywhere, it is and always will be special to me, having a new bike will allow me to care for my old bike and take it off the road to fix her up.

I hired one whilst in Portugal five weeks ago, I was really impressed very comfortable and fast enough for my needs. Roads inland at Portugal (mountains) we’re fantastic silky smooth.

I've had 3 of the earlier models over the years & all were comfy, mega reliable, 60-70mpg & plenty fast enough for me. I might get one of the new models one day, but my favourite is the CBR500R in Repsol colours. Not usually a sports bike fan, just love that colour scheme.

I wanted to stay with Honda for the reliability and simplicity, I did also look at the NC750X but it's a lower seat height and less ground clearence.
The CB500X I tested did feel quick enough and not too quick that it would get me into trouble, I rode it up a long steep dual carridgeway (neath bank for anyone in south wales) and it sat comfortably at 85 all the way, It accelerates upto 70 really quickly and happily sits at motorway speeds happily.
I can't really ask for more from a mid priced reliable bike that gets amazing mpg.
Let the touring begin (once i get it and the weater improves)

The new bike has arrived, I picked it up Thursday night. Picture was taken on Saturday on my first daylight ride on it.

That's not bad - my bikes seem to get mucky on ordinary tarmac roads atm with all this wet weather we're getting
