There's been a shortage of group rides this year, so it was nice to get out on one today, even if it meant leaving the Superdreams at home. Gill went on her GB250, which starts fine now. Anything goes with the Enfield crew & I usually go on one of my SDs, but I thought I'd better let them see my new addition. Perhaps as well, as a few others turned out on Enfields today - 2 Conti GTs (Gareth's is just like mine), Chris's Interceptor and Brian & Barry on Bullets. After a coffee stop in Peel, we headed up to Ramsey round the coast for another brew. I should've taken the photo at our first coffee stop in Peel where there were more of us - as well as Barry' Bullet, we lost another 2 for the ride from there up to Ramsey, a nice '53 Guzzi & an Ariel from the same era.

It's been quiet this side of the water Ian I know I have the privilege of not needing to work and lots of my friends do even my son never put his z750 on the road. I know they are just toys and I know my son is down on what he normally earns and he has priorities. This is just me but I think this 18 months has kicked the enthusiasm out of us.me the knock on my head just made me dafter as I am never of them.the sun is out sat in the garden the buell on the drive waiting for some friends then off to Willingham woods then up to squires and this will probably be the last time I will see these people in person this year.there is nothing on the telly my wife has better things to do get stuck in to that bike and spend your money on that not the pub.i hope I will see you all next year they are a lot better to ride than look at

What are your thoughts on the new Himalaya? For some reason it is really hitting the spot, even though it is fairly low in power...

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid, just not into adventure style bikes. Slightly less power & more weight than a 250 SD but more torque so I'm not sure where that leaves the performance compared to the SD. Reviews I've seen seem positive, apart from the performance but then, anything less than 100bhp is for newbies as far as they're concerned. One pulled up beside us at some lights on the way home from Ramsey yesterday. Just after we set off the road became derestricted; we were turning off, but he seemed to head away at a decent rate.

I think it has half as much torque again as a 400, I spend most of my time at 40-60mph anyway, but I class the 400 as "just about the bare minimum" power. I guess if funds allow I need to have a test drive at somepoint. If they did a 650 version it would be easier.

I think an adventure version of the 650 might happen. The BMW 310 makes 34hp like the 400SD, so I don't know why they can't get a bit more power from the Himalayan, and the 350 Meteor, which has less power than the 250 SD.
