Dear Superdreamers, I am a little confused on my CB250 Superdream model. On the V5 it is registered as an ND-B, and as a 1984 A reg i am sure that is correct. However, it is fitted with a kickstart as well as an electronic start. The engine No. matches the V5 number, so unless the engine was replaced at some point during her life the only other explanation is that they produced a duel start model?
Second question - I am looking to purchase some after market exhaust downpipes, but the aftermarket sellers only generally quote for 1981 models, are most parts interchangeable between modes/years?
Many Thanks, Mark

For the exhaust system, most parts will be the same functionally, 1979 "N" to 1984 ND models. Only detail changes in the parts manufacture and for example the bolts on the exhaust clamps changed from M8x35 flange bolts to M8x35 hex bolt with washer, so essentially the same (the current supply on that later part now give a scoop-head bolt!.
Other pages of the parts book differ much more...
If you have a original kicker engine, the first two digits of the last seven, will start CB250NE-20######
If your engine is a NDB, CB250NE-22######, a kickstart has probably dropped in, if the engine was apart.
The CB250N/CB400N 1978-1979 were the original duel start models, kicker was removed on the 1980 NA models.

Thanks for the response. Like many it is a renovation project bike. I have double checked the Vin and engine number and they don't match. So in essence it looks as though the bike was was originally a ND-B, but a different engine, with kickstart has been fitted, so over the near on 40 years of its life it is probably more like triggers broom. I am curious to find out what year of bike the engine came from, i would suggest 81. The engine number is CB250NE-2020537 Vs VIN CB2502212225

CB250N-2000020 ~ 2027217
Engine ...202...Late-ish production run kicker probably 1979 m/f could be from a 1980 reg bike, I've a 202 on a V reg, not currently on the road though..
Frame CB250NB/NDB 2200008 ~ 2217025 late-ish in the production run as well!

Sounds like yours is a bit like my 250 A.K.A. The Black Pig. Frame matches the V5 so is The NA, engine is from a N kicker and it has the later tank. A real bitza!
