Looks like for most of us that'll be a no then : E10 petrol is cleared for use in all European models with petrol engines equipped with electronic control fuel injection system (HONDA PGM-FI). All Honda motorcycles and mopeds produced for the EU market since 1993 can use ethanol-blended gasoline up to 10% although carburettor-equipped models could experience poor driveability in cold weather conditions.

I was told by guy did carbs on my Valkyrie that if bike used frequently not really a problem it’s when the fuel is left standing that problems could occur leave carbs empty by running dry.

I’m hoping that the dft will keep to their word with letting suppliers provide e5 in super unleaded, which is still bad.
I’ve always tried to use the better fuel if possible in my bikes and not let it stay in the tank and fuel lines for long periods, but ethanol is not good news for older machines cars or bikes so that’s me stuffed lol.

Not cheap but Aspen 4 is a credible alternative if your beloved classic doesn’t do huge miles, too expensive to use for a daily rider at £5 a litre but it’s ethanol free and can be left in the fuel tank for years. Ideal for those that store their bike over winter. If you haven’t heard of it do a quick google, the 10% ethanol mix in E10 is the cause of the problem, most older bikes can tolerate 5%. Apparently the chemical mix in E10 will damage seals and older softer metals used in carbs of old, not to mention the harm to plastics, some modern plastic tanks have been seriously affected by the stuff. I’m going down the Aspen 4 route for NNR given the low mileage these days and from what I read I think it could be the answer to the problem…

Just bung Esso super unleaded in just before you store your bike,no ethanol in it( unless you live in Devon/Cornwall )Or bung aviation fuel in no ethanol in that either😁

All fuel goes off over time I acquired a kawasaki er250 a couple of years ago last run in 1996 the tank was 3/4 full when opening the filler it just smells like a tin of paint.i run my bikes on super unleaded as most of them are not happy with the cheaper stuff. My brother inlaw restores cars and there having lots of problems fuel lines and seals in the carbs and fuel pumps but there are kits to sort them out .to watch on bikes is fuel lines getting hard on my superdream it had got that hard over its lay off it had snapped. As dave says bikes that are run regularly have little problems you just need to put more thought when storing them .my 1949 matchless was around when war fuel was still in use it is only 6 to 1 compression so what was that running on.i think the new fuel will only be a issue if you let it

My take on it is if you run the bike frequently and turn fuel off/ run to drain carbs you’re ok it’s a problem leaving in to store so don’t store with ethanol on the tank
