A old friend came round today back on the bikes after a 30 year rest got a z750 .then showed me the pics of what his brother as just got.he found is kh250 he had when he was 17 on Facebook but the guy would not sell it .Well he got a 1975 z900 and when he went to pick it up there was a kh400 with 40 miles on the clocks and came home with that .they both came from a private collection. 10k he paid for the kh400 and it will need a engine rebuild as it will not start it will not happen .why I cannot understand why you would buy a bike and never want to ride it .but that's me or am I missing something

Hi Mark Its a KH need I say more.
I would love to own one the noise is just out of this world, however, I must say 10K for a non runner that needs a rebuild is a steep price to pay, I wouldn't, but still find myself saying its a KH LOL. Take care Phil

the bike is like its just come out of the box most of the miles have been put on from being pushed about the tyres are rock hard as are the crank seals they will never be replaced ,in my world the engine would now be in bits gaskets and seals plus tyres on order and by the end of summer there would be two more 00 on the speedo ,WHAT A WASTE OF A BIKE

Totally agree with you there Mark a total waste if not going to be rebuilt and run.
That's always a quandary when buying something so unused as to what to do with it, do you keep it as is in a time bubble or run it on the road, my vote is for the latter every time that's what they were built for.

On a ride up to Peel for a coffee last week, we met another couple out for a ride. He was on a KH500 & she was on a KH400. Both bikes totally immaculate, and they were out enjoying them!

Funny thing is when I had my non runner Superdream delivered from Wales they had to take an immaculate KH500 out first to get mine out.
As much as I like the Superdream I asked them not to bother and just leave the KH instead, but they wouldn't LOL. I have always wanted one and have come that close to purchasing one several times and never quite had the cash at the time, such is life.

I have to agree that its a weird idea to pay a lot because something has not been used. Problem there is as soon as you use it it loses the uniqueness. £10k for a KH250 id way out of bounds though. Top of the range ones are coming in at about £7k. I owned on back in the early 80's (it was a 1978 model). To be honest other than the fact it looked good, it was outclassed by RD250's and even GT250's. It actually was possibly the worst 250 I owned (I had a GT250A, RD250E, X7 and the KH).
Just realised it was the KH400. Might be worth more because as I remember there were no a whole lot of them - most people would jump from a 250 to a bigger bike, typically by the late 70's a 4 stroke.

I do like two strokes there fun I have a 81 kh125 that's all I have in motorcycles but have a very modified gilera runner that's lots of fun to ride.i think I have had about 300 bikes on the road from the 70s to this day and there is not one from my past that I would pay large amount for some I have road again years later and been very disappointed. I suppose I have evolved as motorcycles have with always having a modern bike. I have always wanted a kh750 but it will never happen. I will not pay 10k upwards for one and if I did I would be disappointed and wished I got that aprillia torino or a yam mt10 but that's just me. From the age of 12 I see something and that switch goes off in my head I got to get one of them and I am sorry its still going off to the wife's disappointment .of to Willingham woods now will take some pics
