Hi I'm Bob
New to the forum and wanted to say hello.
250 Super Dream arriving tomorrow (some of it in boxes) and the frame has been chopped. So it won't be able to go back to standard, but I'm hoping it will be a fun runabout. Give me a chance to play with the toys i have been collecting for retirement (Bike lift, compressor, Vapour blaster and some new tools)
I also own a classic BMW (1976 R75/6)
and a 1200GS

That's a lovely looking bike Bob. I wasn't keen on them back in the day, but they've grown on me over the years - Honda's CX500 has gone the same way.

I test rode an R75 in 1975 and decided I didn’t like it and bought a Triumph Bonneville instead (For £795) I don’t know what I was thinking!!!! here I am sat on it in 1975 (we replicated the pic on the Beemer last year)

In pretty good condition when she came to me, but i have vapour blasted a lot of the alloy and had the paint done at Papa Smurfs - he told me he would make it better than new, which i took with a pinch of salt, however, he was right, the paintwork is just stunning. she is an absolute joy to ride, I can’t think why I didn’t buy one in 1975, probably the price tag which was over £1,000 and that was tons of cash back then (at least to me it was, I was earning about £45 a week) I have ridden her more than the GS the last 6 months, she is my go to happy machine Bob

I feel the same about the CX too, a mate bought one and I remember ridiculing him about it. something along the lines of “why are you buying a courier bike?” I also swore I would never own a GS as I saw them as Fat old man bikes cometh the age and the waistline cometh the GS I was kicking tyres and the salesman pointed to a GS and said “what about one of those?” I scoffed and said no i dont like them, he asked if i had ever ridden one (I hadn’t) he went and got the keys, and i took it for a ride determined not to like it and couldn’t really fault it, so now I own a GS
