Hi all Seeing bigginger's thread on replacement Tank and with the advent of putting more Ethanol into Petrol, which if left in the Tank will absorb more and more water into the Tank resulting in corrosion eating into the Tanks.
I was just wondering what other members thought as I tend to drain my Tanks down if I'm not going to use it for extended periods. I've even gone to the extreme for my 2 stroke Honda as I don't want any residue of Fuel left in the Engine eating away at seals etc in locating a Garage selling Unleaded Fuel. Apparently there are a few dotted around the Country.

There is also the ethanol free petrol, a bit pricey, but perhaps worth it if laying up for a good while, or perhaps add a bit to dilute along with the frost additive. I think you can keep a maximum of 30 litres if you have the proper containers and can keep it remote from the house. aspenfuel.co.uk/where-to-buy/

Cheers guys certainly a lot of interesting stuff there.
Think its well worth keeping on top of this Ethanol fuel as it is really bad news just to leave it in your tank for any extended period of time.

You could fill the tank with diesel when storing

The fuel injected tanks (Ninja & Interceptor) are put away for the winter, but with no petrol tap they are a pain to drain so I use an additive, there's a few available, I've used Starbriet this year. We usually try & take the oldies out for a ride now & then when the roads are dry, but dry roads have been a rarity this winter, so I've put an ethanol protection additive in those too this year. I've got a spare tank for the SDs so I put the 'good' tanks away, fuel drained & a coating of ACF50 inside & swap the spare tank onto whichever SD I'm using.

The other thing I was thinking, was if I have used, but "empty tanks" off the bike in storage, better to store them inverted perhaps. (They fit in a 64 litre Really useful plastic box easier that way anyway.)

Many thanks guys Thinking of possibly making a 12V Petrol syphoner a bit like we had in the old Mini days, but, certainly going to look at the additives it looks a lot easier.
