Hi guys, I posted this on my Facebook page and then thought to myself, why not share. Car used to look like cars, different spec cars looked different......not anymore and not anymore for a long time now. Bikes are getting the same way, unless you have an interest in a model, can you tell them apart now? I struggle, I am now listening for distinctive sounds to tell them apart. Anyway, back to cars. Here are my examples and I am basing these on my 57 years of age and when I lived with my parents until I was 56...kidding. I have borrowed these pics from other sites as they are great examples. Hope you enjoy. Gee.

Cars are a means of getting from a to be dry and warm to me.the corsa I had for work a 12 plate I gave it to my younger son he smashed it up June this year 196000 still going strong .the pinto would have been on there second cam at 100000 thats if they had not fell to bits with rot.do not get me wrong I had capric and cortinas and probably every ford vauxhall Austin Morris rover and menny other makes from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s and they served me well .but there is not one I would want now .cars have been around for over a 100 years why is it that 70s 80s cars are the only ones that look like cars I think a mk1 cortina and the capri they made at the same time are lookers .all I know they kept me in beer money and paid for my welding gear.

I could spot a GXL from an L, a Ghia from a GL etc from 100 yards, I could spot a colour variant that denoted its trim level even the wheels that separated different models in the 70’s and 80’s possibly even into the 90’s but now, I don’t even recognise the make never mind the model! I too am 57 so it could be an age thing. That red Mk4 Cortina pictured is very nice. I’d like to own that. It’s very similar to the one my dad had but his had a tan roof. Jupiter Red if my memory serves.

Jupiter Red if my memory serves. Absolutely Ian...I had a 1975/76 Cortina 2000E in Gold/Red. Let me explain, it used to be gold, the previous owner painted it red, hand painted it red. The first power wash took the top coat (red) off. I did like both colours, no idea why he painted it red, the gold was in good condition. Sold it to a spray painter that took it back to gold, paid £400 for it in 1990, sold it for the same 1 year later. The 2000E had the more "modern" dash and real wood. Gee.
