just curious, how many of us have let their children have motorcycles as they got older. i used to let mine ride on off road waste ground which was fairly flat, better than the roads we have today anyway.

My eldest son has bikes I did not think he was interested in them his ride at the minute is a kawasaki z750 was saving for a yamaha m10 but thats took a blow as his boiler as just died and as got £3100 to pay back before he thinks of new bikes.the youngest was always in the woods on the bikes but as a adult no interest at all. But his son is mad about them.i did not encourage them whatsoever but they were brought up with them.the eldest comes out to the bike nights with me or I see him there and he is a big TT fan and if I ever sell the buell its got to be to him.old bikes no interest he thinks they are dangerous

My son passed his test and then bought a Harley then swapped for a triumph Daytona. Then got interested in Jap classics which ended up with us sharing the resto of a black SD. He's since got a mint lc250 and RGV250. Our next project is a CB900F. It's nice to see the younger generation appreciating the stuff us oldies love

My eldest lad is ex RLC, and bikes are pretty much the only this he can't ride/drive, my youngest lad is actually doing his CBT next week, lockdown allowing, he then plans on doing his direct access as I said he could have the R1150 if he passes.

I started taking my son on the back of my CB750KZ when he was 7, he loved it so I got him a little monkey bike for the fields, then a kid's dirt bike he did a few races on. When he left school, like most of us, he needed transport to get to work - the first bus at 06:40 didn't get him there in time for his 07:30 start - so he got a Suzuki Street Magic from a guy at work. Over here, there's no 50cc at 16 rule, it's 125cc regardless, but the 'Street Tragic' was cute. Then a friend of mine gave us his Kymco Pulsar 125. It had been left in the garden for a couple of years & the front caliper was seized & I had to get a new one, but other than that it was fine - at least until a taxi pulled out in front of him. The taxi driver was prosecuted for due care, but I didn't bother with insurance for the bike. The fairing was smashed & with it the headlight & speedo, so I fixed it up as a 'naked'. Somewhere there's a Kymco Pulsar riding round with an SD headlight & speedo - spares that came with my Superdream . He failed his test on the Pulsar - reckoned it was too awkward for him to do the 'U' turn, so he sold it & got a DT125 & passed on that. Next came a DRZ400, then a CB500. My 400NA engine expired later & I got an ER5 to ride while I was fixing it. He took a liking to the ER5, so we did a swap. A year or two later, with the SD back on the road, I was going to sell the 'modern' bike & we did another swap, so it was the ER5 that got sold. Then the usual story, got a car, then a family. Will he get back into bikes? Dunno, many do, but many don't......

I’ve taken both my son and daughter out on the bike as pillion in the past neither are interested at present, son as a car and the daughter is learning to drive, sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place, gutted their not interested but at the same time glad , having said that I’d take them out at the drop of a hat and would support them should they get into bikes....
