I haven't attended these meetings get as I have had the feeling that I would be butting in on a chat between a group of old friends, evidenced by the fact that I am the first person with less than a thousand posts to comment here. This is only a personal feeling and Maybe totally wrong, but if others feel the same then this might explain the lack of new blood. I notice I am now a 'full member', not sure if that's a compliment or not. I will try to attend the meetings in future and see how it goes. I certainly could use the wealth of knowledge on tap. it’s sometimes hard to get a word in but we all do our best to be patient. So diplomatic - love it....

Old friends - Carl isn’t even 60 (not far off) yet the rest of us may be old though 🤣 I love these chats for many reasons but the main one is that I feel like a young boy again.

What time we proposing for tomorrow?
The wife's booked a posh restaurant for lunch so may have to be usual time or even a little bit later.

I've never joined in either but simply because my computer has no web cam or microphone ( I know these things are easily bought ,but I don't really want them ) so I'll wait for the next bike meet and do my chatting there (and here as well using my self taught one finger typing skills )

As always, thanks for hosting.

Sorry had to leave a little earlier than normal and sorry to hear about your car Pete, hope the damage isn't too severe. As always, thanks for hosting. I think it is 50 50 if they right it off or will repair it - it needs a new front bumper - fog light - air conditioning radiator plus anything I can't see - luckily it did not bend the bonnet - The badge for the bumper is £25 and although not damaged they will not be able to move it across - the original fell off and since the new one was so expensive I stuck it on and it won't come off Its worth from research this morning £2500 but I have had it since it was 9 months old (its almost 9 years old now) and it has been properly maintained so to me I want it repaired - Key bit about the valuation is it has done 145k miles but will do another 100k easy - What makes it worse its got a full tank of Diesel in it I'm going to completely empty it before it is collected as it might not come back Lets see what the insurance say

You could do well out of this.
Especially with the whiplash claim thrown in.

Feed back today from garage Beyond Economical Repair Oh no. Can you not get a pay out then buy it back from them? Or do they not do this kind of thing anymore?

Feed back today from garage Beyond Economical Repair I used to price up quite a few front end bumps for one of the big companies, Nationwide Crash Repair when I worked for dealers and there's a load of little bits that add up, not just bumper covers, absorbers and brackets. Then they have to factor in the trade discount which is dependant on how quick they then want the parts, 10% if the want it with a normal dealer stock delivery, 5% for 48hr and nothing for VOR which is next day vehicle off road. We don't see the vehicle and basically have to give them the prices of what they ask for, n/s/f wing, liners, lights, bumper cover, absorber, bracket, etc and add in the clips, nuts and bolts to hold it all together. They the buggers have the cheek to send back what they don't use, get it credited back to their account but still charge the insurance company! You could still ask your insurance company if you can buy it back, negotiate a price, and do it yourself. When I've had a car fixed through insurance, it has never felt the same again.

I need them to write it off now - went and bought a pre-registered replacement this afternoon - 24 miles on the clock 9 months old - pick it up Tuesday Thought about trying to buy it back but don't want the hassle of repairing it - the old one served me well for 7 years 361 days
