Government suggesting that any furloughed workers should fruit pick.
Anyone planning to do this?

I would but there are one or two obstacles for me. first yorkshire isnt really known as a fruit producing county unless you count rhubarb (is rhubarb a fruit? I suppose it must be) secondly does it count as leaving my job if I take wages from another firm? (I was asked by my employer for my written consent to be put on the furlough scheme) or would I be expected to pick fruit for the 80% of my wage that I'm receiving? I only ask because that would have me working for less than minimum wage

Think you’re safe Buster I reckon rhubarb is a vegetable similar to celery.

I did some when I was backpacking in Oz some 20 years ago and to be honest it was bloody hard work.
Mind you, that was oranges. The buggers did not want to come off the tree that easily, kind of a flick of the wrist was required.

I can never decided if a Tomato really is trying to be a vegetable but is a fruit. What's its problem?

Ours is called Jobkeeper... $1500 a fortnight but it doesn't kick in until next month. This is the first time in 32 years that I haven't worked (well actually ever since I started my apprenticeship when I was 16) and it's doing my head in. The first couple of weeks were a novelty but now it's just bloody depressing.

With you there Terry, celery is vile and stringy but rhubarb we’d eat raw dipped in sugar and Mrs.DFS makes a lovely crumble with rhubarb given by a mate 😁😁
