Well, I have had the CPAP machine for 3 weeks now and I would like to report that I am feeling better than ever and I have lost a load of weight and feel like a 20yrs old again..........however my mum always told me not to lie!! The mask is infuriatingly difficult to manage with at night, I haven't had it on a whole night yet, the pressure is low for the first hour then builds up after that so I get about 2 hours sleep then I get woken up because I can't breathe as the pump is forcing too much air into the mask and I can't take it in fast enough so start panting! So far I do it in shifts, a couple of hours on, pressure builds up and wakes me, then take it off to reset and put it back on at the start of the cycle then a couple more hours sleep and pressure builds up etc. etc. after the third go around 3-4am I give up and leave it off for the next few hours till I get up. The missus stays with me until around 3am then shifts beds, it could be something about the heat too though! I do feel better though even if its not working all night, I am getting used to the dry mouth in the mornings and the feeling that my cheeks are stuffed with cotton wool but I do feel more relaxed and a little less lethargic than before. I have lost a little weight, about half a stone so far, so that's good news and now I am doing more in the evening it should help with more weight loss (I would like to loose a stone and a half before the wedding in September!) I have to go back next week for an out patients appointment when I will ask them to turn the machine pressure down a bit so that I can go through the whole night without having to take it off. Happy days PS I do feel like a 20yr but the missus won't let me have one.........
