What are you all up to during this crazy period of 'Lock Down' ?
Some of you know that I am currently living in Los Angeles and things are very similar here. Virtual lock down. I have never seen LA like a ghost town, the 405 freeway deserted.
I'm keeping my mind occupied by doing little jobs on the two bikes I currently have here, things like valve checks, oil changes, general cleaning etc.....and of course working to keep my family safe. I was able to venture out and get a new front tyre fitted on my Triumph yesterday afternoon, but there was absolutely no one in the workshop bar the fitter which of course was a good thing.
Take care people and be safe.

Still working, albeit from home, not sure how long that will last, but if I am honest I don't mind if it stops. I have a ton of things to do at home, including the renovation of my 1976 FS1E (which I have all I need to do - except new paintwork but that can wait) also lots to do on the 400Dream, have the car kits so could do that. On the odd side I have load of Tamiya motorcycle construction kits (collected over the last 20 years), and I have never actually built any of them! maybe now is the time to start. I am pretty certain I can fill the time!

Taking dogs out in morning, went to local refuse tip to take car full of garden rubbish one car at a time allowed in and they are closing them after today.Need fuel bit of shopping and pick up a prescription on Thursday. We have a small Tesco right by us and can get what we need there. Was hoping to get my 750 paintwork back next week but doubt I’ll be doing that.I’ve been practicing the last 12 months by not walking around much plus being an old duffer find it easier to stay at home.Lets all stay safe and take advice we are being given and hope we can get through this nightmare safely.

I know its selfish to say it but I'm bored. theres only so much searching around for daft crap online that I can cope with. for personal reasons (to protect another family member) I have to take the isolation pretty much to the letter. the real bummer for me (again being selfish) is that the garage is about 30 yards away from the house and a public footpath runs right in front of it so I'v ruled it out of bounds for myself, mainly down to people often stopping for a chat. think I'll see if I can find my millenium trilogy tomorrow and re read that.
bet LA as a ghost town is completely surreal, I'v spent the night on the outskirts once and we drove through the hollywood bowl on the interstate and I dont think I'v ever seen so many cars in one place before or since, we two idiot tourists could have used the carpool lane but by the time we worked that out we'd have to have crossed about 5 lanes of solid traffic.

Today was my second day working from home - hate it, very difficult and had to do some hard conversations with a few people
On the plus side I normally get home about 7:30pm - was out in the garage at 5:00 stripping more paint off SME's fork stanchions
As part of the closing down sale at Borders UK I bought all the series of Secret Army - might get round to watching them, had them 10 years and still in the cellophane
SME frame is away for powder coating (no idea when I will get that back) so have a bit more space in the garage - weekend will be full steam refurbishing bits on that
My Mrs has very high morals so we have not horded anything hopefully we can buy what we need when we need it - plan is to shop once a week
I have to admit I did go out to Halfords last week (distancing of course) and bought a load of tins of spray paint but I think thats allowed
I suspect we will be like this for 8 weeks so think I will have all of the ancils for SME cleaned
I am looking forward to seeing some of your ugly mugs at the weekend on out first Virtual Bike Meet
Finally its out there - I know a few people that have had it
In the words of "Hill Street Blues" lets be careful out there
This is surreal, best to you and yours
Finally Neil has spent almost 4 years building a 1963 Tiger 90 from a 2 tea chests he bought 30 years ago - the last bit was having the tank painted - its ready to be picked up - I feel for him
Keep posting - keep opinions going and where possible think of others

BIG respect

So called 'self isolation' continues. Time to don the surgicals and tackle the sump plate this afternoon. Frame already drained of oil, filter cleaned and new gaskets fitted yesterday.

As a roadside/recovery patrol and classed as a key worker, I'm out working most shifts as we have contracts with all the emergency services. It's noticeable quiet so in between jobs I'm in the process of assembling the 400. Got the engine running today after the rebuild and runs a dream now. Just need to sort out several electrical faults and paintwork.

I'm a key worker but Tesco won't allow me to work ,I was told to go home on Saturday night and not come back for twelve weeks due to my health problems I'm being paid for ten weeks and have to use holidays for the rest .So sunday I weeded my block paved drive ,Monday I was up my steps cutting back the shrubbery at the bottom of my garden Tuesday I rode the bike onto the drive at the front and I emptied my lean -to then pressure washed all the flags and walls inside the lean -to and the patio and garden steps outside of it let it dry then rode the bike back, it all looks a lot better out there without the accumulated oil stains and rubbish I have several bin bags for the dumpit but from what Dave (firestorm) said they'll have to sit round the side of the house for a while (there's nothing organic so it's not a problem) Today I think I'm going to put my feet up and chill for a while ,Well see
