free image hosting websiteNice little evening ride to Looe this evening but just as I got home had a whirring/low screeching sound coming from beneath the speedo rev counter area any ideas ??

Quite a common fault. Typically the head unit gets dry and makes a whirring noise. Perhaps try oiling the cable and maybe a bit of oil in the head drive before investigating further.

That's all it will be as Fungo said above the noise can get very loud and is quite frightning when you first hear it

When mine did it ,it was the tacho I sprayed wd40 up into the clock using the straw and I replaced the cable with a new one just to make sure

My Speedo cable does it , I unthread the cable , pull it down from the clock and spray some WD-40 up into the drive where cable goes, seem to work ok, 👍
