Hi
I am after a new front left brake caliper for a Honda super dream CB 250 N 1981 model, the one on my bike is past it
Does anyone know where i am able to purchase a new caliper from?
or does any one know of a caliper that is a direct fit from another motorcycle which i can get the caliper new
Thanks

Hi there.
Is your caliper totally beyond repair? The reason I ask is that the pistons and seals are quite easy to come by but not sure about a complete caliper. You could probably find a used one on Ebay or snuffling around the auto-jumbles, but I think you will struggle to find a new one.

XBR 500 caliper with mounting bracket, but you would need the VF750/CB900F2C_D/CB750F/CM400C disc as well ideally....
Similar configuration as a CB250NDD (without Honda cast on the side of the caliper) 2x30mm pistons. Havn't actually run one yet, but will try this in twin disc config next spring... upload a picture

I have two decent used ones spare here with me....sadly I'm currently in the USA though so postage cost would possibly make this prohibitive. (Same as CB400T Hawk).

This might be a daft question? will any caliper fit as long as the mounting centers are the same distance apart eg 65mm if so i have come across a few that might fit? thanks

I picked up a complete 400 nearside caliper for a £5 a few months ago Saw a full set, 2 calipers and master for a SD 400 at Newark not long back - guy wanted £90 for the lot I would be autojumbling personally - but then again I am a tight git when it comes to spending cash

Thanks for all the replies,
the current condition of my brake caliper is poor at best, snapped bleed nipple, piston gouged heavily rusted too, caliper slider boots require replaced, i have not yet removed the piston to assess the condition of the internal bore in the body of the caliper, brake pads worn to excess, the reason i was looking at a different caliper is cost, just to replace these parts was the best part of £100 when you see new calipers on internet for £40 with pads included this was the reason i was looking at a new caliper.
also if the answer to my question regarding will any caliper fit and work correctly as long as the centers are 65mm then there are brembo brakes which i have seen for a reasonable price (second hand)
i have had some experience upgrading brake calipers and master cylinders to match calipers, but not changing calipers from one piston to two or four pot set up ( the calipers were like for like 6 pots for 6 pots just a different brand, however original master cylinder was shot, so i had to calculate and measure bore sizes etc to match a master cylinder to the new calipers (so if needs be i will do the same for the super dream)
but my question is would the 65mm center brembo caliper work? fit has any one looked or tried these? ones i were looking at think came off ducati's and some bmw's are brembos with 65mm centers too

its not just the centre of the mounting bolts, lots of other things come in to play eg disc diameter (there are a few options there american hawk/nighthawk for larger cb250rs for smaller) also the spacing, does the disc sit in the same position between forks and wheel, is there enough clearance between wheel and back of caliper. if all that doesnt put you off I'd love to know if the brembo fits
