Hello all, thought I'd share this with you...On my last ride out I felt the back end slip, slight bend, dry road. I checked the tyres, plenty tread, no visible defects, the tyres are Bridgestone Mag Mopus. I'm no tyre expert so I did some research, date codes and all that, turns out they are the factory originals....34 years old!! Explains my nearly off, but on the plus side it helps confirm the bike's 1600 miles as genuine LOL. I've ordered new tyres, so the bike's off the road until they're fitted, lucky escape or what??!! On the subject of mileage being genuine, just found out that for a fiver DVLA will supply the provenance of any vehicle, dates and details of all past owner history from first registration and copies of all the V5 registration documents issued for the bike. Cheers!

Bridgestone Mag Mopus - yes, one of the original types fitted to the CB250/400N.
I actually posess a NOS tubeless pair for my 250N deluxe - although they are only intended for future show purposes.
What new rubber are you going with?

I think the current recommendation is not to fit a tyre older than 5 years, and not use after 10. Avon are a bit stricter and say change any tyre after 7 years....

hi Fungobat, I don't do a lot of mileage on the SD...odd weekend, and I don't tear-arse, so I'm going with a pair of Maxxis Hi Max, I've checked and they get pretty decent reviews.

Yes, your right crouchyuk, I've researched the subject, rubber hardens with age and loses it gripping properties, it deteriorates the tyre from the inside, that's why my tyres look fine from the outside, but not safe to ride on.
