I am well and truly stumped and need to tap in to the wealth of knowledge that frequents the forum ! Having finally finished my cafe racer build I am having issues with the fuelling on one side of the carbs ...I am getting a backfire through the intake on one side ..the carbs have been balanced , cleaned , rejetted ( for pods ) ..valves have been checked and checked again , timing is spot on , needles both shimmed but one side is persistently running like a pig , the floats are adjusted and all good and there are no air leaks also the coils and CDI have been replaced to no avail , the plugs are also new ...engine has been rebuilt and compression is very good ...once the bike is revved up it's nowhere near as bad but idling and low revs it's a bag of shite ...I'm out of ideas...any suggestions ...and no I'm not scrapping or setting fire to it ( just yet

Hi , besides the pods adding an extra bit of "interest" the usual problem is the carbs , usually need cleaning out more than once , emulsion tubes and pilot especially - I'd go for at least one more carb clean , ideally with a sonic bath . Shouldn't be an ignition issue as the spark is shared with both cylinders . Good luck !

have to agree with bojer, also a backfire (where ever its occuring) is usually down to excess fuel could well be worth trying standard jets (if you havent increased the capacity, then no need to increase the jet sizes).

Trouble is it won't run on standard jets , It has straight through stainless pipes and pods so needs bigger jets ...currently 117.5 and 95 as recommended by sigma racing for the set up etc

All superdreams run lean first thing I did to mine was up the main jet.pods are a no no on cv carbs but there are people that make them work,go on to the hondatwin site they go into detail about pod filters.why the straight through pipes you need some sort of baffle in not to make it quiet just to create some back pressure you will find it will run better.as everyone says these carbs need to be clean,

Any luck yet? Interested to see how you're getting on, I'm having very similar issues.

I got her running well , it took 117.5 jets and hotter plugs but all was ok ....until ...now I'm running the carbs dry , can't work it out goes a mile or so and carbs are dry ..stand a few mins and off we go again ! I've checked the breather in the cap , fuel flow etc ...the only thing I can think of is the petcock not letting enough through and yes floats are set correctly !
