Not like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP3wdwRhpFsBut on my 1980 Honda CB400A Hondamatic there is a Cougar rear tyre. When this gets hot, say after a few miles at 60mph, road holding is noticeable by its absence. Stop for a few mins while it cools and all is well again. Noticed this a few times. (Yes I have checked wheel alignment, rear shocks and swing arm. Anyway, only happens when rear tyre is hot) So will be out shopping ASAP but busy this week so might take a while. Front tyre is Shinko, which I have used before and is fine. So will try and go for that make.

Strange for a tyre to lose it's grip when warm usually the opposite. Tyres generally get grippier when warm. Could be an unusual tyre compound made in china or similar far eastern country.

But seems others have had trouble with this brand of tyre. www.reviewcentre.com/reviews113130.html

This one was on the bike when I brought it Jan 2013. But as good tread and no cracks, and being on the brasic side of skint, kept using it. Still plenty of tread but my back end wiggling is not a pretty sight! Still trying to find a Shinko one.

My boots need replacing on my new acquisition. It's wearing the original Yokohama Speedlines on it - but the walls are now incredibly cracked. I was conscious of this on the two and a half hour ride home on Sunday so was keeping my speed down to 70.. I'm considering either a pair of the Heidenau or Metzeler (tube type). They have some good tyres with a nice vintage pattern.

Not having much luck finding a new tyre. Surprised as I thought it would be easy. Usual place I use shut till Monday, so may have to wait. Tried Watling Tyres and they tried to sell me a Mitchlin, which I have had on bikes before and did not like. Would like a Shinko, if not a Dunlop, Metzler, or Conti. Size is rear, 100-90/18 56H. Other places tried on line do not seem to stock that size. But got a few other bike shops not too far away if I can't get it Monday. Still, meanwhile will make more use of the 1980 Honda CB250N Super Dream. emoticon-looney-toons-001

3.50 / 25 / 60 19 on the front and 4.10 18 on the rear.
Convert to old money and your search results will improve.

Curiouser and curiouser. Both mine and another CB400A I have checked have 100-90/18 56H rear tyres, but as you say, Haynes book of wonders has 410s 18 listed. Being a knownufingnuffinknower can anyone tell me the difference between those sizes please?

I believe tyre sizing is a mix of imperial and metric now but in olden days it was based on metal cart rims and how many spokes does your grannies shopper bike have and magic...
so im led to believe....
