Going to attempt to add a pic. NNR just out of mothballs, sporting a new silencer, not a bad replacement for my original, to be honest it’s very similar to the untrained eye. Here goes...   |

I did indeed mate, £59 delivered - Bargain because the quality seems really good, especially the chrome. Not HiLevel but no complaints this end. The LH will be back in October apparently. |

I always think of you when I look in awe at my rear wheel. Still can’t believe you found that. Absolutely finished the bike, without it the bike just wouldn’t have been the same. What would a mint pair of original silencers cost these days? The problem isn’t what you’d pay for them, it’s simply finding them. That’s why I removed my NOS genuine ones, if the bike (god forbid) fell over and the silencer took the hit then finding a genuine replacement would be very hard. I guess they’d fetch £200 each NOS, ( a full NOS system sold for £800 a few years ago) maybe more to the right buyer. But the aftermarket ones are very convincing to be fair, it’s only those of us that insist on technical correctness , if that doesn’t bother you then buy aftermarket, they’re absolutely fine and at £60 each a bit of a bargain. |

I’m off into my loft, there’s gold in them there hills 😀 I guess the problem is that NOS is getting rarer by the day, sure they’ll be people with a stash but they’ll need it to maintain their machines, so if you bring NOS to the market, you gotta pay the big dollar because it might be years before you find another. Sometimes you just have to take the hit. ( as I’m currently finding out with rebuilding my MK1 Raleigh Chopper, bear in mind NOS MK1 1 parts are getting on for 50 years old so getting very scarce.) The very best will always command a premium. |
