Here is a challenge to all you builders out there, anyone can participate, the rule of this game is to build a superdream from ground up,
you can have as many goes as you like, but one message one part,
RULES:
ONE POST ONE ITEM,
NAME THE PART,
PART NUMBER,
AND PHOTO OF THE ITEM.
this is very important as it will assist a member who would like to have a go and rebuild one, who would like to start us off. good luck to all.

I approached my complete rebuild with little to no practical experience of doing anything like it before. I thought to myself that it is essentially a big air fix kit. Got a workshop manual and a book of parts diagrams and away I went. If you’ve ever looked at the parts catalogue you will know what a very long game this will be. 😀 so if I’ve got this right we need to approach this with a blank piece of paper and start as though we had no parts. I’d start the ball rolling but haven’t worked out how to post images since Photobucket died... I will come back when I’ve figured it out!

Rebuilding my CB450DX

Gasket Set CB450DX (Probably fits lots of other models) Purchased from Ebay, I hope its ok quality I was supprised how many items are included. Only issue is it doesnt say what O rings are for where Includes valve guide seals as well as the head gaskets and rocker cover rubber.  |

JUST ONE SUGGESTION
Could I make just one suggestion if you are working on a Superdream.
ie Rebuilding or Working on.
HAVE YOUR OIL CAN AND GREASE TIN AT HAND!
PUT OIL OR GREASE ON THOSE SCREW THREADS!
PARTICULARLY ON THE 4 EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS.
SQUIRT OIL ON THE THREADS UNTIL IT IS DRIPPING FROM THEM.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN OIL ON THOSE STUDS.
LUBRICATE THE CHAIN!!!
I HAVE NEVER SEEN OIL ON A MOTORCYCLE CHAIN. (PARKED MOTORCYCLES)
UNSCREW THE ACCELERATOR CONTROL AND POUR CYCLE OIL INTO
THE CABLE CHANNELS UNTIL IT DRIPS OUT OF THE CABLE ENDS.
(WORKING THE TWIST GRIP BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS)
PUT GREASE ON THE WHEEL SPINDLES BEFORE FITTING.
PUT GREASE ON THE SPEEDO REDUCTION GEAR BEFORE FITTING.
OIL THE SPEEDO CABLE RETAINING SCREW BEFORE SCREWING IN.
THIS IS JUST A FEW OF THE PLACES WHERE OIL/GREASE SHOULD BE APPLIED.

BACK-UP RINGS Found in the forks of CB250NB, CB400NB, CB250NDB, CB250NC, CB400NC, CB250NDD and CB400ND, Superdreams. 51422-376-305 This item sits above the TEFLON coated split bearing bush, at the upper end of the fork casing, below the oil seal.  51413-447-731 This item sits above the the oil seal, but below the retaining circlip.  |

Info only (Not actual part Nos), sticker print detail for the fork Assembly decals of (top to bottom), CB250NC & CB250NDD, CB400ND, CB400NC, These are printed on a silver foil decal material.  |

A few parts associated with the fork bottom pipes (All models) 51437-413-003 Ring Piston, these are fitted to the top of the bottom pipes and slide inside the stanchion.  51412-369-000 "SPRING FR REBOUND" These go under the head of the bottom pipe, before inserting it in to the stanchion.  51432-447-731 "PIECE OIL LOCK" for the lower end of the Bottom Pipe after insertion into/through the stanchion, and before insertion into the Bottom Case...  |
