there is also one on the kickstart shaft assembly inside the engine, as well as the one on the kickstart arm

ok, looks the same as the one on mine My apologies, Dave. You are actually correct.
After double checking, this is indeed the clip for the kickstarter arm. For some reason I was confusing it with another part I pulled from the tin, a circlip.
