Hi all, I have just joined up, (have posted in the new members) and am looking to get an SD, I am bidding on one in Fife on the dreaded auction site and was just checking that I am not going to upset anyone one here that might be on it. It's an early S plate bike, I veiwed it yesterday just to see where my limit is on it.
It looks like a nice forum here, I have been having a nose around and look forward to getting an SD soon. If anyone wants my know any more about the ebay bike I am happy to say what I've seen!
Cheers, si

That's the one folks, I was still trying to link it! Like I said i have been and looked at it and know what I am willing to pay for it, what I don't want to do is pump it to my limit, be outbid and then find someone on here has had to pay more than needs be! You may notice there is another and a CB 250 T lurking in the background, both are better than the one on auction, but this one is the most desireable I presume. Last on the road in 1985!

The S plate is very early indeed, probably one of the first.
Like the original Glasgow area plate on it.....but the bike looks like it needs quite a bit of work.
It's wearing a later NA tank. Note the 250NA in the background also.

Later seat too I think? I was parked up outside in 1985 by the current owner who by his own admission has fallen off every bike he has owned! It really needs a complete rebuild, he went up to see if it turned over before I went to view and says it moved, moved again then stopped with an alarming noise. I was fully expecting it to be siezed solid so wasn't overly fussed by this news, but yes, it is in a very bad way. The other was parked up in 1988, though in a shed and is in much better nick, but clearly needs a rebuild too.

Wow- there would be easier restorations than this one out there. Is it because it's local? You could sink 750 quid into this one and still be able to buy better straight off Ebay...

Seat looks correct but incredibly rotten.
You are a brave man taking that on.....
But it could end up okay especially if you've viewed it and are happy knowing what you wish to pay, max.

But some of us like a challenge!
No matter how misguided or fiscally unsound it may be... There's a real satisfaction to be had here albeit at quite a cost!!

The numbers don't add up, agreed, but do they ever?

If making a profit is not your aim and your heart is in this then I say go for it and don't count the cost.
