I'd just like to ask the question and get a response from as many of you as possible.... As per title.......'Why are people gawping at Superdreams?' I took my black 250 out for a spin around the block today - not far - maybe 3 miles at the very most - and had two drivers nearly snap their heads off looking at the bike. Not a remarkable example at the moment - as some may know, the bike is tidy but down at heel and is certainly no showpiece. What amazed me was that the ride was only about three miles - but two car drivers reacted like they wanted to see a lot more. I'm sure it had nothing to do with me being on the wrong side of the road as I approached them so we can discount this, I'm pretty sure. But, my question is - do people have a hunger to see Honda Superdreams on the road again after all the plastic scooters that now out there ? or do they just want to see 80's classics on the road again in general?

Just a guess but I suspect a few people who had them back in the day are surprised and pleased to see one again. There must be many people who owned one once and just moved on in life, without developing a passion for them. I think many would still be interested to see one today though. Maybe if they didn't own one they'd remember them and be interested to see one again.

i agree with tucksie, when you see a vehicle you have not seen for years you always stop and look,
and i think the superdream as not aged that much, its styling for its time was amazing, just my opinion.

I'll bounce back on that comment (Steve) and say that yes, the design at the time was well ahead of its time and set a benchmark for years afterwards. I remember people saying the same about BSA's around the mid-eighties (made in the mid-sixties) and loving seeing them on the roads again (or still). Bike design has lasted longer but then so have we......what is the 'extended' retirement age now? I am now 40 but apparently it's the new 25.

I think people in general (of a certain age) love to see old bikes in general . They even like it more if they see them being ridden and if they can spot the one they used to have (say a superdream) it makes their day. It doesn't have to be pristine or a collectors item they just love to see them . When I am on one of my area runs you'll be surprised how many people twig there's some old bikes on a run passed there house. They stand by their front gates often with toddlers trying to spot all the different types of bikes many encouraging the toddlers to wave as with pass. Today when I was out with the lads ,we passing through a village and there was a chap standing in the road flagging me down . He wanted to know who we were and where we were going. Our hobby brings a smile to many peoples faces PS. we don't all ride together, as we each have a route card and go at our own pace.

Twist the throttle a bit more man It came from behind me making a hell of a lot of noise and I throttled back as I thought my silencer had fallen of then it appeared about sixty feet above my head banking left ,it really was something to see then I gave it some more throttle and headed home with the theme from the dambusters playing in my head......Awesome .

I'm out a fair bit on my SD and I'm always getting good comments & it's very satisfying even though my SD is far from mint it still is a talking point when stopped in a busy area or getting fuel or even just parked outside my house people have took pics & asked stuff about it , on the way back from a recent ride I got stopped by a copper , but not because I was doing anything wrong but he chatted about the SD and how his mate used to have one . When I first took it to work and parked it in the yard , one of my work colleagues said " hey mate I did not know they started making the Superdream again he was really surprised it was original . Long live the fantastic Superdream , I for one have no intentions of selling either anytime soon
