Out on our bikes today, we bumped into a guy we've met in Peel on one or other of his old bikes a few times, Peter. He invited us back to see his collection, which was pretty impressive. The pictures aren't great, but the bikes were. The Franny B, James & plunger Bantam were my favourites, reminded my of my childhood, and the Rocket Gold Star. The others were a bit older, and included a Levis 350, a marque I'd never heard of. There was also a couple of big Velos, a Dot, a Triumph 5TA, and a few I can't remember. Oh, and a Ducati Monster! This Vespa was his latest resto, and Gill's favourite. He showed us some 'before' photos & it was a rusty heap with half the parts missing and a seized engine, so he's done a pretty good job It's still a Brit bike, a Douglas Vespa, made under license in Bristol. He also had a 60's Husqvarna in another garage & a Speed Twin undergoing rest on a shed! Made me stop thinking we've got too many bikes!

One thing that surprised me, he's got all those bikes locally. Maybe it shouldn't have, it's amazing what people have tucked away in their sheds & garages

Me too, it was mostly the number of bikes in the garage I liked, although the little Villiers bikes were nice. I'd swap them all for Jap bikes, maybe every different model & colour of Superdream

Oh for a a big lotto win.😄 Agree The SD is great but the small size of the 50s and 60s 250s are great for the back lanes Would love a 50s Lambretta but struggling with 5 bikes in the garage at the moment - one will have to go me thinks

Which one is coming my way then, BP?
Please do not forget the 'mate rate' phenomenon.
