Dave (Wazzbo) - Thank you so much for all this information, it's fantastic. I have a 400NB and a couple of questions arise... What function do the air by-pass valves perform? I've read all sorts of contradictory internet guff ranging from "they're vital" to "you don't need em, just block them off" 2nd, My bike has a Motad 2 into 1 exhaust. Do you know if different jetting is required? I lied, I have a 3rd question, which ultrasonic cleaner do you have? I'm going to have another go at getting my carbs to work, but this time armed with your guide. I have the Keyster kits necessary from NRP. I live in Bolton, so rode into their shop on my VFR750fs. It's an Alladin's cave of carbs and they are very, very knowledgable (although how the hell they know where anything is is beyond me). I've no hesitation in recommending them. I've added a pic of the Keyster kit - note that the air by pass valves are not included. I also have JIS screwdrivers - your advice is exactly right, they work brilliantly with Japanese screw heads (strange that!) and are soooooooo much better than Phillips style which are not designed for the purpose. If you don't have JIS screwdrivers and you do your own work on your bike, do yourself (and your bike's screw heads) a very big favour and invest in some.

PS - neither are the bungs, you have to buy those separately and they're not easy to find. NRP usually have them.
