I think it is not so much the hotel issue which was the cause of him being sacked by BBC, in my view it's because he has become an embarrassment to the motor industry and they having got all they can from him at this stage they want him out now. The guy is 54 but he looks more like 74, this is not the image car builders and car sales firms want to have associated with car culture. Its like having humpty dumpty advertising chocolate or an obese person with spots doing an advertisement for McDonalds. If I was a young fit person then looking at Clarkson would put me off ever wanting to own a car, the sight of him would incline be to buy a bicycle instead. Having said all that, I'm in no position to judge the man having spent a good while behind the wheel myself and having ate my fair share of chocolate and chips, not so much the stake though, I don't have the teeth for it !

Personally Im glad, the man is a complete and utter clown. Its like watching a mischievous schoolboy with to much money and to many toys to play with so has to come up with more and more ridiculous games to keep him happy. The episode in Argentina where everyone literally had to run for there lives is a perfect example of him behaving like a naughty little lad. While the three of them were airlifted to safety, the behind the scenes crew who are just there to do a job were in real danger of violence or even there lives. If I was a crew member, when we got home I'd of battered him on the track in front of the other two of Clarksons puppets. If he was so desperate for steak and chips he should of got in his £100,000 car and found a pub that was serving food. Good ridence and well done to BBC for having the balls to do it.

Strange that the article above says he reported himself to the BBC after the incident?
I watch Top Gear, but it's over scripted entertainment rather than a factual motoring program. How often do they do those silly races across continents on a bus, bike, car or bats wing and all arrive within 30 seconds of each other......

i must admit i quite liked it . in this world of political correctness i found it fun to watch, it did not take it self
seriously, so now we will have a boring top gear now, we will see.

For me I think Fifth Gear has the balance just right. It has cars driven hard against each other on a track, team tests and individual road tests where the car is the star and not the presenters. At least at the end of the episode you have gained some knowledge.

To be honest I don't really have any interest in cars but I did enjoy Top Gear for much the same reasons as Steve, it was funny and it was good to watch someone push the politically correct boundaries a bit.

I would love to see the BBC come up with a DIY type program about cars bikes etc where one could gain some knowledge after watching a program. Top Gear had gone like American Choppers where the programs are 95 % about undesirable personalities with just a few flashes of a car or bike thrown in. Both vehicle builders, governments and media are making every effort to take the diy out of vehicles for the vehicle owner and instead rob the vehicle owner with expensive garage bills half of which is tax. They are also making every effort to shorten the lives of vehicles to make a killing on new vehicle sales.

Evans has said he doesn't want the gig.
Love or hate Clarkson, he is Top Gear.
