I'll get out there in a bit Boje, when the missus goes out.
So I am simply going to disconnect one wire off the horn and put the black probe in the loom connector for the horn and the red probe on the horn itself - then press the horn - and take note of the reading on the meter.
Is that what we want?

In lieu of anything more exciting I think we will settle for that - and if you're then feeling confident the same thing with the 12v horn for comparison ?

Eh ? , plan was probes in the 10A and common sockets , switched to the 10A range ? - not seen your meter ( ooh , er missus ) but best guess . So would not expect to see 16.83A on a 10 A range and if you did its too much ! 1.683A would be good though .......

Tell you what - as much as she hates it, I am going to utilise the missus...I will get her to honk the horn as I do the meter work. The horn (the more I press it) seems to be getting more and more high pitched and dare I say probably louder - unless I am imagining it.....
Re: meter reading. It could of had the decimal point where you say but the noise really was a serious distraction.....it was kind of echoing as well......give me Chinese water torcher any day over that.

If it is 1.683A what does this mean?

1.6 amps is about what you'd expect - think I'd guessed at 1.5A , so if the 6V horn only takes 1.6A on 12v it'll be fine . If you're keen do the same test with the original 12V horn - again expecting about 1 1/2 Amps .
Sounds (!) hopeful

Let me get this right FB............
You've got the horn and you want your missus to come outside and fiddle with it.
Are you sure you have posted this on the correct forum?
