Hello. I'm on to my third 250 Superdream. I had two in the 80s, a blue 1980 one and a silver 1979 one. 37 years later I've just bought a red 1980 one! It runs but needs plenty doing to it including master cylinder, the clutch sorting as its very heavy, the rear indicators re-attaching if I can work out where the wires are, and a repaint. I'm looking forward to the challenge! I've also got a Suzuki GSXR1000K1 which I've had for 14 years.

The Dream and SuperDream wiring harness is still the same I believe. Here is a pic of the live wires coming from the indicators (Striped), the Dream has different indicators on the back but they work from the same wiring loom. The green I believe are earths. The clutch will either be just needing used (heated up) or a new cable hopefully, try some oil down the cable first. David Silvers do Master Cylinders just as cheap as a rebuild kit. Look forward to the pics. Gee.

Thank you for the replies and help. I ordered a new master cylinder and clutch cable from David Silver which arrived on Thursday. I’ve not had a chance to get them fitted yet thanks to work but I’ll be cracking on with it next week. I’ve started it up and had it in gear on the centre stand. It went in and out of 1st gear fine with the back wheel turning. The indicators look easy to wire up, now I know what goes where! One other thing came to light and that was the left hand carb is leaking from the overflow. It won’t idle either. Carb rebuild kits ordered today. I’ll send photos once I work out how to put them on here!

The leaky carb will be your float sticking....if its just a light stick, tap the side of the carb with the bottom of a screw driver, if that doesn't work then its the bottoms off. If you have Allen heads holding the float bowls in you can sometimes keep them insitu to adjust if you are bendable. Most take the carbs off and adjust the float, its not shutting off the fuel, so needs bent if you have a black floats, some you cannot adjust. See the pic.

Back to the indicators. Wired them up today with no joy. The front ones didn’t work then did work then now don’t but the rear ones didn’t work at all. Would this be the flasher relay? Would save a lot of wire chasing as I’m not very good with electrics! Thanks.

I had a weird problem with my NA indicators when I first got it. The indicators would work ok with the ignition on, and headlight on on or off, but with the engine running, would only work with the headlight in a particular condition - can't remember if it had to be on or off. Replaced the flasher relay & the problem was fixed. The relays aren't expensive, so it's worth a try.

I’ve got the brackets now to fit them to the grab rails. That’s a job for the weekend. Once they’re on there I’ll be able to see what they do properly. I’ve got a spare flasher relay now just in case. Thank you.

Pulling the carbs on and off "Gets old very quickly" as the young folk say. If as Graeme says you have allen screws fitted you can save yourself a lot of hassle. The inside screws can be a right bugger to refit though, I bought a couple of longer screws and loctited sleeves onto them, (outlined in photo) makes refitting them a doodle. only downside I had to make a new throttle stop adjuster to clear the new extended screws
