With Bodie.
1981-on were 520. Noticeably thinner chain and sprockets on these.

So I can only find one original looking rear sprocket for my NC
If I am changing both sprockets and the chain can I use a 530?

Hi Pete. Yes, as it has the correct sprockets for the chain. Mike.

So I can only find one original looking rear sprocket for my NC If I am changing both sprockets and the chain can I use a 530? Yes, you could run the 530 on the NC, but I like the 520 arrgt (my 250NA has a 520 O-ring on it, don't tell anybody 🙂... I will try and use 520 cahin with all comstar/ reverse comstar wheels, and 525 chain on the 450DX and the NC if fitted with ND wheels. General info.... "5" = 5x1/8" pin centre to pin centre, "20"= 2×1/8" between chain plates, sprocket width approx 6mm. "30"= 3x1/8" between plates so is quite a bit heavier CB400N's 16T front 36T rear standard gearing, 100L? (Cb250N 15T front, 41T rear 102L...) The centre of the sprockets thickness at mounting, are all the same as the 530 sprockets, approx 9mm, so if a sprocket was cut from a 6mm blank for a 520 it would not work!

Thanks - that all seems to make sense now so in summary The difference between the N/NA and the NB/NC is the sprockets are thinned at the teeth end like this from the CMS site making the teeth 6mm wide not 9mm The other end is similarly done which from a MR Honda perspective adds about £16 to the price of the sprockets Rear we have this on Ebay to original style and this for the front or use the 530 option Bodie suggested Interestingly both CMS and Silvers do dot have any of the rear 6mm sprockets Finally you never stop learing about these bikes - will have a look at the German 400 later today as that is an NB and I suspect that has a 530 chain on it

The shame is the sprocket on the wheels I bought looks virtual brand new but it is a 530 41 teeth one for a 250
