they tend to spatter a bit with no gas but weld ok. 2mm thick steel and above seems to be where my own welders at (power controls on mine are crap) as I now just put it on full power and leave it there and just adjust the wire feed speed slightly. gas torches are easily available as an upgrade if you can swap the torch and earth around, I'v just gone on to a bottle of argon/co2 mix and much prefer that to co2 alone

Have some fun with that, should work ok for connecting things in the garage. I made a frame stand with mine last weekend which came out ok. Strong enough to hold the bike while I work on it.

Nowt wrong with Lidl or Aldi stuff as long as you don’t use them as a “professional” just home use.
