Do the 1979 250n models have chrome or a matt silver front mudguard? Mine has a dull silver one but the chrome do look a lot better, could paint my one I suppose?

As far as I know all the 250n had chrome metal mudguards, has yours been painted?

No it's not been painted it's just a matt silver finish and I was wondering if it was just a cheap copy one, you can see it a bit in the picture I posted in the pic board. I expect I will get a chrome one a bit later on!

New original mudguards are becoming rare and expensive these days, even good second hand ones can be pricey. David Silver does a very good copy circa £120 from memory and they do look very good. They also do the slab sided ones which are commonly used but they don’t have that original look.

The one in your picture, looks like the slab sided pattern muddy. DSS's later replica muddy is much more like the original CX/SD Muddy. CB_N/NA/NB 250's all had metal chrome plated. CB250NC/NDD Had plastic muddys, based on 250RS plastic, with a different metal bracket/braces, to suit ( also as CB400NC, CB400T 1981(?) American hawk, with a slightly different bracket, and again with another bracket on the CB400ND to account for the 18" wheel)

Thanks, mine bolts straight to the fork legs with two bolts on either side but there doesn't seem to be any brackets.

Thanks for all the input, mine is like the first one but not chrome but has the two fixing holes in it but I think I will go for one of the Silver's ones when I get one as they look so much better.
