You might have seen on a post furter down that i was having problems turning off the bike at the ignition and the kill switch (bike wasnt tunrning off using ign or kill switch) I have since found that the only way to get the bike to turn off was by disconnecting the green and yellow wires from the coil Today after starting the bike and going around all the wiring on the bike to see if I had a loose connection anywhere that might be the cause of it not switching off , I disconnected the black and white wire from the cdi ...see pic , (Im not sure if there should be a join where it is joined as someone has used connectors to join the wire together) Anyway after disconnecting the wire it stopped the bike but I now Have no ignition lights and the starter button is dead , Could I have blown something or burnt something out by pulling the wire apart whilst it was running?..All fuses are still ok

Was that green earth tag loose behind the loom when you started looking at the bike ? Just wonder if that not being grounded to the frame was the issue ?
FWIW , the ignition and 12v circuits are effectively independant of each other so pulling the black/white connection will not affect the dash lights etc. Having said that the black/white into the CDI is connected to earth to stop the ignition from producing sparks so opening the connection should not have stopped the bike . I would avoid disconnecting ignition components with the bike running as it could cause damage .
I would connect up that green tag to the frame using a cleaned up area and look elsewhere for the dash lights problem - red connector on LH side etc .

Green wire was ground to frame when it was running When I first got the bike back together it started / ran / switched off fine After going a 20 mile ride it started playing up and not switching off at the ignition I found the only way to turn it off was by disconnecting the green and yellow wires from the coil I do have use of all the other instruments, indicators, lights , horn etc, I just have no neutral, oil light and no power to the starter button, kill switch is in normal running position but still no power

As Ian says, the single black/white wire is what stops the spark when it is earthed by either the ignition or kill switch. If that bullet connector is disconnected, those switches won't stop the engine. I wonder if your orignal fault (not switching off) was a dodgy connection at that bodged connector? The neutral & oil lights, and the starter switch are independent of the spark circuit, so it sounds like there's a connection problem somewhere, although with that black/white wire disconnected, & the 2 connectors from cdi to alternator on the electrics panel in good order, it should spark. It's worth having a look at the colour wiring diagram in the manuals section, much easier to follow than in the Haynes.

I had a problem with the fuses, they weren’t blown but just had a bad connection, be all good one minute then the next there was no power. A good clean and everything was fine.

I found with my first Sd that disconnecting the CDI(black & white wire ) had the effect that I had no lights ,none of the electrics would work but the engine would kick over and the bike could be ridden away .I discovered this by accident whilst washing the bike and where the wire was situated the wire could be disconnected easily so I re-routed it so sticky fingers could'nt reach it. glad your problem was just the fuses

All sorted now , had to end up replacing the whole wiring loom as the one on the bike was butchered to hell and as I had a spare off an old 400 it made sense (I should have replaced it when I was building the bike back up) , Also had to end up replacing the reg/rec and the fuse box as well as these were also butchered to within an inch of their life Connected it all up and it started fine and turned off fine , so it must have been a wiring issue somewhere within the loom . Did have a bit of a problem getting the lights to work at first then all of a sudden they came on and still seem to be working ok so happy days
