After getting the tank back and being relatively pleased with the outcome (its darker then original , but i could live with that)
I got a phone call off the painter a few weeks ago to tell me the one side panel and the seat cowl have come out a lot darker than the rest of he bits , it is really noticeable so cant use them
The painter is struggling to get the colour match right and doesnt want to paint the parts again
Has anyone else ever had a bike painted this colour and struggled to get the correct colour and how much did it cost you ?

Do I only have the choice of candy red or black?

I've only do a tail cowl in Tanz blue with rattle cans, used blade silver instead of Coarse silver, built the blue up over two days gradually, using original side panels as a comparator difficult to get right, and who ever done the tank I bought from ebay had the same problem as you have encountered i.e. to dark.
I think I would perhaps go to the local autopaint dealer, look at the swatches, and perhaps pick a pearlescent red to suit.

Not sure of a good match for the candy red but Honda Milano red is very close to the Helios red used on the earlier Superdreams thats what mines painted in

The candy colours have to have the right base paint first, the top coat is really thin and the final colour saturation depends on how much of this is applied. We have had both our bikes painted a few years ago (one candy Tanzanight blue and one candy Bourgogne red), they have come out nice but we had all the bodywork painted at the same time. My blue bike is slightly lighter than the NOS tank I have but everything is the same colour and it looks really nice.
