Nice,, I'll be interested to know if you find a good source for the Koni spares, I wondered if the Ikon items are exactly the same. Never followed it up yet though...

Question
How does drilling holes in the disc impact braking, I seem to remember from my Physics lessons (in the 70's) that friction was independent of the area in contact?

So, in theory at least, drilling isn't detrimental to braking performance, but it makes the discs lighter (thereby reducing the 'un-sprung' weight) and can actually improve braking performance by improving cooling and aiding water dispersal in the wet.

So I assume it was cheaper for Mr Honda to produce solid discs I guess so Pete. Though I seem to recall that the idea of using drilled discs on production machines became popular post-Super Dream (early '80s) or is my mind getting fuddled again?

thanks for that info al saved me from putting it down plus stops glazing of the pads and my main reason it looks good and i am turning the rotor down to reduce mass your physics lessons would have told you why

Hi Mark.
Always interested in seeing upgrades to standard parts , would be pleased to see any modification to stock parts.
Cheers Graham.

With drilled discs there is a further benefit. Say the bike is on a workbench and you have a mate working on the other side of the bike, you can look through these glory holes to request a cup of tea.....an absolute boon.
