I gave the painter who is painting the bike for me this code R-107C-U for the Honda candy bourgogne red I got a phonecall off him a couple of weeks ago as he was concerned it was not the correct shade after he had painted the tailpiece , his concern was that it looked a lot darker than the paint on the panels and tank that i took to him , when he showed it me i agreed it did look a lot darker but to carry on painting as I couldnt confirm the other bits were the original colour . The bike did have the wrong stripe kit on the bike , so it suggesests it has been painted before Ive now got the tank back and on the bike and ive got to sy it does look dark ( I will be keeping it this colour as i do like it , even if it is wrong) What do you lot think is it too dark for candy bourgogne ?

I know that the right colour means a lot to some but, wow the bike looks brilliant. Great colour and great spray job. Jealous

I’m sure Stevie is your man to comment on this but it looks great Gaz, the candy colours are done in two colours I beleive a silver base coat then a red top coat, not sure but I’m guessing the more coats of red the darker the outcome, however I’m a builder so what do I know 🤣🤣🤣 it’s just guess work. If your happy Gaz that’s all that matters, I can’t wait to see it with the decals fitted.

It does look a little dark, but in the last photo, the right hand elevation, it does not seem drastically different. It's very difficult to get these candy colours spot on, it could be the reflectivity of the silver base coat has been slightly low for some reason.
Nice job though, main thing is all the panels look the same (when parked up under a yellow street light used to be a test for reds I think). I agree, certainly not worth changing it!
Looking forward to seeing the decals on...

Looks darker than my original tank but if I am honest I think the darker red looks significantly better so I would stick with what you have.
A great paint job

Thats a lovely job Gaz as you say it may be a bit too dark I'd have to see it in the flesh to say properly as monitors distort colours
this is the sort of shade you're looking for so you are pretty close ( No thats not my bike )

The purists will be having convulsions at that comment

Gaz candys are a pain to replicate exactly because you are supposed to be seeing the groundcoat through the top colour, easiest way to explain is think of a candy toffee apple, you can see the green apple under the red candy coating, it is the same thing only you are doing it with paint. I think your colour looks good, and when you get your decals on it will brighten everything up and it will look even better, infact the contrast between the decals and paintwork may make it more pleasing to the eye than the exact factory colour, keep it the way it is its nice👍

I agree with the other posts, I have a candy red 250NA with NOS tank and would confirm it’s a little dark but nevertheless it looks like a cracking job so I wouldn’t worry about it. Hers my candy red ...

I have read somewhere that even the factory 1970s candy colours could be different shade variants on the bikes.
