Last October I bought a new (unused) Topbox from Stafford which came with Key but no bracket for £50 As I want to remove it from the bike when not in use plus I dont want to spend £50 to £70 on a bracket, with outside cold and damp I decided to start the bracket so here goes a thread on making a topbox bracket The topbox So to start, I made a template with bits of card Now to transfer to the plate

Well almost after a year of making the plate I spent 4 hours with emery cloth and wet and dry and took all the blemishes from the cutting and polished the corners to get rid of the sharp edges. then discovered masking tape after being stuck on it for a year would not come off This is it tonight

More progress today Off with the old Made all new spacers but when I tried the seat on Had to cut 10mm of spacer and put 10mm one on the bottom Was nervous about loosing the side rails but looks OK Need to make brackets for the indicators now then off again and paint all the brackets The rack is not the final one - an identical newly chromes one will go on That will give me a flat rack to mount the top box plate

Finished work early today (out of office taking a Cherry Picker Driving Course which finished at 15:00) so started making the brackets to hold the indicators on Had to go across Neil's to drill the holes out as my drill would not take a big enough drill This is the result together with a rubber mount that I picked up at Stafford last April

Then the rusty screws, the rear indicators are some I picked up at Kempton Park and cleaned up Changed them Much better The original indicators are on the front from when the bike was built (I assume) the 4 rusties are the back - the other four are the front, they will be plated and put back on next time I have plating done

Garage Day Yesterday - started to make the fixings for the top box plate Marked out Ally block and the faithful Band Saw sliced it off Then the holes to fit around the rack - 16.5 mm drilled in stages, at this point I also drilled the bolt holes top to bottom @ 4mm pilot Then again sliced through to make both sides of the clamp Not a bad fit
